Fabulous Friday

Fabulous Reads!

  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

I've read this book three or four times now. It's fantastic. A German girl during WW2 whose family hides a Jew in their basement. Sooo crazy good. Read it! It's more than just a book about the holocaust, I promise you.

  • A Song For Summer by Eva Ibbotson

Easily the best romance book ever. I've read it twice. You'll love it, and you'll love the characters. Eva Ibbotson is totally ingenius and one can simply not get enough of her novels.

  • The Secret Under My Skin by Janet McNaughton

Janet McNaughton is also an extraordinary writer, and this book is utterly marvelous. Sci-fi, but more than that. Read it - I dare you.

  • Hacking Harvard by Robin Wasserman

A fun read, however unrealistic. Robin Wasserman is a truly fantastic author, but this is the first book of hers I read that hasn't been in the sci-fi genre. And it rocked! The title says it all...

  • The Year Of Secret Assignments by Jaclyn Moriarty

Much like her Feeling Sorry For Celia, this novel of Jaclyn Moriarty is in letter format. Funny, and with romance. I finished it in maybe two days. You won't be able to get enough of it!

Labour Day = No More Summer Vacay

:-(

Summer is departing. School starts back up tomorrow. Soon the weather will be cold and, while I do miss my jeans, I think I'll miss not freezing my ass off even more.

To top it all off, I forgot to do a Fabulous Friday yesterday, but mostly just 'cause I was at the cottage and didn't get back until late last night and all I wanted to do was watch A&E's CriMi marathon.

*sigh*

Top Ten Missable Summer Holiday Things

(In No Particular Order)

  • It doesn't get dark until around eight at night.

  • It's so lovely and warm outside.

  • You can have pool parties with your friends.

  • No school.

  • Summer clothes are cute.

  • You can stay outside without getting hypothermia.

  • You can go out of town and not worry about the hundred-million projects and tests that will be waiting for you when you return.

  • You can stay up late, late, late.

  • You can sleep in late, late, late.

  • You have a chance to do all that stuff you wanted to do during the year but had no time for.

What will YOU miss most about summer?

Love, love. Love is all you need...

Yes, it's a Beatles song. It's an amazing song, and The Beatles are amazing too, and we all know it!

But, I am talking about Criminal Minds. And my love for it. And the amazing blog ~ www.criminalmindsfanatic.blogspot.com ~ that started me writing this blog. And their auction. And how much I want that signed script, 'cause I want to be a writer/filmmaker and oh my gosh, how I love Matthew Gray Gubler! (And worship AJ Cook and Kirsten Vangsness, and just adore the show and watch it whenever possible and am working on owning DVDs and searching vainly for posters.)

This is my rant about wanting the signed script and loving the show, although I won't get the signed script 'cause eBay is too confusing and...yeah...not enough money. *droops head*

Of course, nobody reads this thing, so it's just me complaining to myself. Which is pathetic. Which is why I'm also complaining to Brianna. :) Love ya Bri...

And love CriMi!

They Could Be Twins! (Giggle-Worthy)

One is a much-loved character from a clasic novel, the other is a pop ("rock", but let's be honest here) star that makes tweens swoon. So, in honour of Mr. Kevin Jonas's recent engagement to long-time girlfriend Danielle, let's have a just-for-fun version of TCBT!. Because really, who can overlook those sideburns?

Introducing the eldest of the JoBros twin...Mr. Tumnus, from none other than Narnia (The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe to be more exact)! While played by the utterly good looking James McAvoy (who, I assure you, deserves a spot in Name That Hottie!), Mr. Tumnus is the half-human half-goat that Lucy runs into when first entering Narnia. Please turn your attention to the right.

Next, Kevin Jonas. I'm not saying you have to know each one by name (Nick is pretty stand-alone, but I always get Kevin and Joe confused) but due to Marissa's fascination with the group, I do happen to know their names. I, however, cannot tell you whether Kevin plays guitar or sings lead. Nor can I tell you whether it was he or Joe who played Demi Lavato's love interest in the Disney film Camp Rock. But this is he!

Ha ha. You can see it, can't you?
No disrespect meant! Congrats, Kevin! And James McAvoy, you're amazing!

They Could Be Twins!

One sings, the other tatoos on a reality TV show. Yet I can't help but see the resemblance between Kat Von D and Suzie McNeil.

First up, Kat. She's on Miami Ink (which shows on TLC),
and is tattoed like crazy. She also has her own makeup line. I don't know what else to say, really. There used to be other Inks like LA and New York, but I'm pretty sure Kat's is the only one left. Obviously, she's a hit!
This is Kat ----> -----> ---->

Then you have Suzie. I think she was discovered on Canadian Idols or one of those shows, but maybe I'm just going nuts. I'm almost %100 sure she's Canadian, though. She can join the Fabulous list! Anyway, Suzie is known for songs such as Believe, Hung Up, and Broken And Beautiful. She's actually pretty good.

Mais Oui? Identical?

One has blonde hair with dark bits, the other dark hair with black bits. Heavy makeup, numerous tatoos, and they're even in almost identical poses!

Fabulous Friday!

Fabulous websites!

  • Google

It's endlessly entertaining. You can find whatever you want, learn whatever you want. If I'm bored, I type in a word and hit search and see what comes up. Even "I'm bored" gets you a list of enjoyable sites.

www.google.ca

  • Wikipedia

Just like Google, it's amazing in what it can drag up. From TV shows to bands to countries to products, I can get the 411 on absolutely anything I want. Of course you can edit things, but maybe that's the fun of it. You can trust everything you read on Wiki, but isn't that a given?

www.wikipedia.org

  • Internet Movie Database
TV shows, actors, movies. Who plays so-and-so in that film? Type in the movie and find out. Why did whats-her-face leave that TV show? Type in their name and learn. It's great fun. You can even figure out how tall an actor is. Again, not the most reliable source of information, but still good enough.

www.imdb.org

  • Yahoo

Got a question? Ask it. Bored? Answer someone else's. You can also get your horoscope, read up on the latest news, and set up an email account. PLUS you can design this little avatar character with all these neato outfits and hair styles.

www.yahoo.ca

  • Youtube

Is this not self-explanatory? You can listen to music, and watch videos, and watch interviews with celebrities, and watch fan-made trailers for books that are not yet movies, et cetera, et cetera.

www.youtube.ca

Until my next post, I remain,
